This year round home replaces a seasonal camp on an island in Lake Winnipesaukee. The footprint of the original one story structure was retained to grandfather proximity to the lake. Study models were used to explore alternate configurations for the new two story house, capturing views across the lake to the Ossipee Mountains.
The walls and roof are made of pre-fabricated structural insulated panels to decrease the cost of barging materials to the island and heating the house in winter. An innovative detail in the panel construction eliminates thermal bridging to improve energy efficiency. Project completion spring 2012.
