Zoning allowed two dwelling units on this property. The challenge was how to add a second unit while maintaining the character and privacy of the existing historic Queen Anne home.
 
The design solution was to demolish the existing non-historic garage and replace it with a carriage house, containing 2 parking spaces and a 2 bedroom apartment. The carriage house has its own private patio and only one window, obscured by stain glass, facing the main house. The kitchen of the historic home was reconfigured to provide a breakfast nook opening on to a south facing deck.
